Questions

Before you buy.

What do EBC and Lovibond mean?

Both measure malt colour. EBC is the European scale and Lovibond the American one. This guide shows both; beer colour itself is measured in EBC or SRM.

Which malts have their own enzymes?

Base malts such as Pilsner, pale ale, Vienna and Munich carry the enzymes that convert starch in the mash. Most caramel and roasted malts do not, so they need a base malt alongside them.
