I want to become a professional brewer. Which course should I take?

There is no single course that turns everyone into a brewer. The right one depends on what you already know, how you like to learn and how much time and money you can give it. This guide helps you choose a starting point.

The honest answer: it depends on where you start

People ask us for the one course that makes a professional brewer. We cannot give you one, because our courses do different jobs. Some teach you the ideas. Some put you on a working brewhouse for a day. One gives you a month inside a microbrewery. Picking well means being clear about your own starting point first.

Ask yourself three things. What do you already know about brewing? Do you learn best on a screen or on the floor with your hands in the mash? And how much time and money can you spend before you know it is the right career for you?

If you have never brewed

Start small and cheap. Beer for Starters is a one-hour online course for ₹199. It will not make you a brewer, but it tells you quickly whether you want to know more.

If you are weighing up a brewing career and want to see the work before you commit, the 1-Day Super Intensive Craft Beer Course is built for you. It is one day in a working microbrewery in Pune, Delhi, Gurugram or Bengaluru, for ₹25,000, with a full brew day seen and done on professional kit. You find out if you like the smell of a boil kettle at 6 in the morning and the hours spent cleaning. Both are the job.

If you homebrew already

Homebrewers often know a lot but cannot say why a batch worked. Brewing Fundamentals (4 weeks, ₹5,999, online and in person) walks through every step from mill to package. You build a 20 L recipe with a target OG, IBU and colour. You also learn to clean and sanitise like a professional brewery. It is a good first step if your plan is to go professional but you want solid foundations first.

If you already brew well but keep hitting the same faults, the 1-Month Intensive Brewing Excellence Course (below) fits better. For more on this move, read from homebrewer to pro brewer.

If you want the full professional route

The 1-Month Intensive Brewing Excellence Course is our most complete option. It runs 4 weeks and 48 contact hours, in person at partner microbreweries in Pune, Delhi, Gurugram and Bengaluru, with online study alongside. It covers brewing fundamentals, brewhouse operations, fermentation and yeast management, then hands-on work and quality control, ending with a complete brew of your own. You get access to a QC lab and testing protocols, a certificate (80% attendance needed), internship recommendations and career guidance.

It costs ₹1,25,000. Meals, travel and stay are not included. Fees are not refundable, though a seat can be transferred with approval. That is a serious commitment, which is why we suggest the one-day course first if you are unsure.

Be clear on what it is. It is a month of structured learning with real support. It does not guarantee a job or an internship. We can offer guidance and recommend opportunities where possible. The rest depends on you and the market.

If you already work in a brewery

Assistant brewers and working brewers usually need depth, not basics. Advanced Brewing Science runs 6 weeks online for ₹12,999. You learn to turn a water lab report into a brewing water profile, measure and improve brewhouse efficiency, control esters, fusels and diacetyl. You also write a QA plan for a small brewery. Graduates of Brewing Fundamentals and serious homebrewers chasing consistency also take it.

Online or in person?

Online courses run live on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM IST with a maximum of 20 students. You get recordings, weekly assignments and a certificate. They suit people with a day job. In-person courses give you the floor: the heat, the weight of a sack of malt, the real sequence of a brew day. Many people do both, for example Brewing Fundamentals online and then an in-person day or month. No bundle is listed, so ask us about timing if you want both.

Not sure which side you fall on? Our guide to which course is right for you goes through the options, while the in-person comparison page lays the city details side by side.

Your first step

Write down your starting point in three lines: what you have brewed, how you like to learn and what you can spend. Send it to us and we will tell you honestly which course fits, including when the answer is a cheaper one than you hoped.

Common questions

Do I need a brewing course to become a professional brewer?

No course is required to apply for brewing jobs. A course gives you structured knowledge and a way to find out whether the work suits you. Entry requirements for any given brewery vary, so check with the employer.

Which course is best if I am changing careers?

If you are unsure, start with the 1-Day Super Intensive Course to see a real brew day. If you are sure, the 1-Month Intensive is the fullest route. Brewing Fundamentals is a lighter online start.

Will the course get me a brewing job?

No. We cannot promise jobs or internships. The 1-Month Intensive includes internship recommendations and career guidance. We also recommend opportunities where possible.

Are there entry requirements for the in-person courses?

We have not set out eligibility details here, so please ask us. We will tell you what applies to the course you are considering.
