New hop products in 2026: oils, liquids and what comes next

Our guide to CO2 extracts and cryo hops covers the basics. This one picks up the newer products: fresh-hop cryo pellets, liquid whirlpool extracts, dry-hop oils and thiol precursors, with the doses suppliers publish.

Where this guide starts

If CO2 extract and lupulin powder are new to you, read hop extracts and cryo hops first. Here we cover what has arrived on top of those. Every dose below comes from the supplier's own sheet and is a starting point. Your kit and your beer will move it.

Pellets that keep fresh-hop character

Yakima Chief Hops launched Cryo Fresh in a press release of 14 May 2025. Un-kilned cones straight off the bine go through cryogenic lupulin separation, so you get fresh-hop aroma in a pellet instead of a sack of wet cones. The 2025 crop came in Simcoe and Sabro (early pick) plus Citra, Mosaic and Krush (late pick). YCH's product page recommends it for active or post-fermentation dry hopping and not for the kettle.

In January 2026 YCH and Indie Hops added Strata to the Cryo range. HPA's LupoMAX works the same way for Australian varieties: an enriched pellet with less leaf and stem than a T90.

Extracts that flow into the whirlpool

BarthHaas Incognito is a CO2-based extract made for late hopping. It flows at ambient temperature, so you mix it with a little hot wort and pour it into the whirlpool. It comes in eight varieties including Citra, Mosaic and Sabro, in 2 kg and 10 kg tubs with a two-year shelf life. With no plant matter there is no hop sludge to soak up beer. The effluent carries less BOD and COD.

YCH's DynaBoost is its whirlpool equivalent. The data sheet gives 35 to 50% alpha and 18 to 22% oil, with a 1 kg pack standing in for roughly 10 kg of T90 pellets.

Oils for the whirlpool, the fermenter and after filtration

HyperBoost from YCH is an oil-boosted extract. Its dosing guide suggests 20 g to replace 1 kg of T90 in the whirlpool, where it can replace every pellet. In the dry hop the start is 10 g per kg of T90, tightening to 8 g. YCH advises using it for only 25 to 50% of the charge with pellets for the rest.

BarthHaas SPECTRUM is a liquid dry-hop product with no carriers or solvents. In its launch notice BarthHaas puts 1 kg equal to 5 to 8 kg of pellets. It dissolves completely, so it can go in through dosing equipment instead of an open manway.

HPA's Prysma disperses hop oil in water with a hop-derived emulsifier. HPA rates it at 7 to 8 times the strength of T90 and says it can be dosed after filtration, which lets one base beer become several brands. Dolcita and Galaxy are in the range.

Thiol precursors from grape skins

Escarpment Labs' Phantasm is freeze-dried Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc skin, rich in bound thiol precursors. Add it in the whirlpool at 4 to 12 g/L (Escarpment calls 6 g/L the sweet spot) and ferment with a thiol-releasing yeast. It adds about 0.3 °P and drops pH a touch. It is an amplifier, not a hop replacement. Our thiolized yeast guide explains the yeast side.

Yield, loss and the working detail

The case for all of these is beer you keep. Pellets swell into a sludge cone at the bottom of the fermenter that holds wort you will never sell. Liquids and enriched pellets cut that. Less plant matter also means fewer of the enzymes behind hop creep.

The catch is maths. Swapping 4 kg of pellets for oil changes alpha, oil and polyphenol all at once, so bitterness and mouthfeel move too. Working that out properly while tasting what you lose is where most brewers need structured training rather than a data sheet.

What comes next and what it means in India

Expect new varieties to arrive as oils and enriched pellets in their first year, as Dolcita already has. For a brewer in India the arithmetic is attractive. A 1 kg tub replacing 5 to 10 kg of pellets cuts air freight and freezer space. Flowable extracts tolerate ambient handling better than pellets, but oils still need cold storage once opened. Every product needs a clear import classification before the first order. Start with one beer, one product and a side-by-side tasting.

Common questions

Can I replace all my dry-hop pellets with hop oil?

Suppliers generally say no. Yakima Chief Hops recommends HyperBoost for 25 to 50% of a dry-hop charge with pellets for the rest, while in the whirlpool it can replace pellets entirely.

When do I add a flowable extract like Incognito?

In the whirlpool. BarthHaas suggests mixing it with hot wort first, then pouring it in, so it disperses evenly.

Does Phantasm need a special yeast?

Yes. The thiol precursors only turn into aroma with a yeast that releases them, so pair it with a thiol-releasing strain.

Is Cryo Fresh for bittering?

No. Yakima Chief Hops recommends it for dry hopping only and points brewers to CO2 extract or T90 pellets for the kettle.
